Crude oil

Crude oil is a natural fossil fuel that is a mixture of hydrocarbons formed from plants and animals that lived millions of years ago. Crude oil exists in liquid form in underground pools or reservoirs and once refined, it helps to create most of the energy sources used industrially and domestically. It is used in everything from gasoline and diesel to power vehicles, to jet fuel for aircraft and fuel for ships. It is also used commonly in the production of chemical products such as medications, solvents, fertilizers, pesticides and plastics.
